General Information
SPID stands for Social Progressive Interconnected Diverse. We are a registered charity and an award-winning youth theatre specializing in art that advocates housing justice
Since 2005 we have been based in the Grade II* listed historic Kensal House estate in Ladbroke Grove, West London and recently completed a £4m refurbishment of our space and scale up of our free drama and heritage programs. Our address is Kensal House, Ladbroke Grove, London W10 5BQ.
We work with young people, community members and those experiencing housing injustice to make high quality community theatre on council estates. We challenge the stereotypes around council estates and celebrate their history. We advocate for investment in housing access and safety. We create award winning productions such as dramatized tours, interactive exhibitions and promenade performances using theatre, film and history.
Kensal House is a landmark of modern architecture designed by Maxwell Fry and Elizabeth Denby in 1937. It was a pioneer in social housing, designed to provide "light, air, and health" to the working class. SPID is proud to have worked with residents to ensure the landlord we share with Grenfell brings the whole estate up to standard.
While the estate is a private residential area, we often hold heritage tours and open days as part of our programming. Check our [What’s On] page for upcoming heritage events.

We don’t have an on-site parking lot. The nearest car park is at Sainsbury’s on Canal Way, about a 4-minute walk from the venue.
